Contemporary Plus
O artista luso António Pessoa,a partir de 2006
que sem dúvida parece abdicar das suas velhas
influências e interferências,rompendo bruscamente
com os tradicionais modelos,mitos e os últimos
vestigios da sua tão polémica,boémia e academica
Época Romântica,1997-2002.
Barcelona,foi desde 2002 o principio do seu
Stand By necessário,o seu periodo de
reflexão,consagração no país vizinho,um progresso
mais que evidente a nivel de maturidade pessoal e
um acumular de experiências,tudo isto
inevitàvelmente culminando numa transformação
absolutamente
metamorfósica e justamente,como não podia deixar
de ser,absolutamente drástica no domínio das
artes plásticas.
A Nova Era - The NEW ERA, António Pessoa - é
precisamente a prova inegável de uma nova tomada
de consciência plástica,de intuição cromática e
de expressionismo conceptual inovador.
Longe estão os tempos de Atlantis,Vigo e
Porto,discotecas,pubs,noites de boémia e
aventuras mas acima de tudo longe estão os tempos
em que António Pessoa ainda vibrava e brindava
com os velhos mestres do século
vinte,nomeadamente Francis Bacon,Vieira da
Silva,Matisse,Picasso, Dalí,Kandinsky...para não
mencionar as desventuradas influências da
retrogada pintura galega.
António Pessoa,despe os trajes das velhas e
obsoletas vanguardas e renasce frescamente

certo é que o artista português promete um futuro
artistico,humano,profissional como aliás era de
esperar.
Mais que contemporâneo,António Pessoa dá
claramente a entender que as suas ambições
plásticas vão muito mais além do "Fashion",na
verdade o artista decide sem avisar dar um grande
salto em matéria de invenção plástica passando do
Neo para o Plus.
Eu,pessoalmente ainda que não surpreendido,pois
outra coisa do homem não se podia esperar,devo no
entanto reconhecer- na mesma e precisa medida em
que muitos jovens criticos de arte já isto têem
como dado adquirido e facto consumado - que
António Pessoa mais do que Veni,Vidi,Vici...
ultrapassou-se a
si mesmo com a coragem a que já nos tem
habituados e como um dos grandes portuguêses de
sempre!

The Patron
António Pessoa , 2006
Após quase um ano de interregno,2005,em que o
artista viaja permanentemente tanto por questões
profissionais como por mero lazer,
talvez por um lado necessitando de um longo
periodo de reflexão e de uma nova contemplação do
mundo e por outro lado satisfazendo a
urgência de estabelecer novos contactos ; surge
em 2006 com um novo look na sua arte
visual,surpreendendo tudo e todos e muito
provável até que surpreendendo-se a si mesmo.
Utilizando um nova fusão de ténicas
mistas,desde collage,digital work,
fotografia,aguarela e acrilicos,plus uma
combinação de cores e formas cujo resultado é
quase sempre um impacto visual marcando súbita
presença,não contundente mas sim meramente
impositivo,ainda que predominantemente cativante
e motivador.
"The Patron" ,O Mecenas,é talvez das obras
mais atipicas da expressão da New Era,deixando
ainda transparecer vestígios da Época Romântica,e
até do periodo de Barcelona e Chicago.
Apesar de feições contemporâneas, "The Patron"
sugere um certo ar de neo-cubismo,ou até um pouco
ao estilo de Georges Braque,um toque de
revivalismo em plena Nova Era muito ao jeito das
obras dos tempos de Vigo.
Um quadro repleto de propositado
mistério,muito no estilo desconcertante do
António Pessoa dos velhos tempos,adivinha-se que
se trata de um auto-retrato não só pelas nitidas
parecenças do olhar como pela pose que mal se
vislumbra mas que se sente.
Pouco mais posso adiantar sobre "The Patron"
sem a sempre conveniente informação fidedigna de
Jacob Kotsky,a não ser a minha leitura mais ou
menos objectiva,pouco ou muito subjectiva.
Só realmente o tempo e o distanciamento
necessário e imprescindivel poderão fazer uma
mais justa avaliação e análise deste quadro,como
aliás costuma ser a regra geral,ainda para mais
sendo "The Patron" uma obra fora do contexto
visual da New Era de António Pessoa,2006.
